2nd Grade News
October 28, 2016
Well, we have officially survived the first 9wks of school. We have overcome many challenges, but we are having a wonderful time here in second grade. We took a field trip to our State Capital, had a visit from the local Fire Department, and learned what a Veterinarian does. We are very excited about the upcoming Halloween parade and party.
Our Power Standards or the skills we are working on this 9wks are fluency in reading and basic addition and subtraction facts. We are working hard to strengthen these skills. We are now very lucky to have one to one i-Pads. Our school is learning new ways to incorporate these into our daily lessons. We want to prepare our students for the technology-based world.
Here in 2nd grade, we are having an “Owl-standing” year. This year has been like no other, but I can say we are stronger. We have an amazing community, parents, and students. I can’t begin to say how thankful I am for all the resources and out pouring of support we have received.
Some exciting events are right around the corner. We have been learning about our wonderful state and its natural resources, so we are going to visit the State Museum and Capital. In keeping with the Clendenin tradition, we will be parading down the streets of Clendenin in our Halloween Costumes. Following the parade, we will bus the students to Hoover’s football field. There we will have lunch, play games, and receive treats. Also, we look forward to having a veterinarian come in and speak to our class.
New to our class this year is SeeSaw. If you have not signed up for it, please take a few minutes to do so. This is an online portfolio of your child’s work. You will be able to see work samples, hear them read, and much more. It is also a great way for me to communicate with you. Each day I post a picture of the homework, and upload the weekly newsletter. As we get better at using it, you will see more.
Again, I want to say thank you for all that you do. Together, we will make this the greatest school year ever!
